The ninth month of a child's life

The ninth month of a child’s life is full of love in all its forms. There are never enough hugs, kisses, cuddles and tenderness ratings at this stage.

This brings a sense of great satisfaction to all mothers and it is enough to fill every parent’s heart with love.

In this article, we share with you some of the changes that can occur during the ninth month of your baby’s life.

Changes that occur during the ninth month

They adapt to your routines

If you have been strict and diligent in using routines, you will notice that your baby has started to adapt to them during the ninth month.

You may be pleasantly surprised when you say “it’s time to eat” or “it’s time to swim”.

Keep at it because routines can be very helpful in children’s lives. They give them a sense of order and security.

They become more talkative and practice using consonants

It is exciting and fun to hear how your child tries to imitate conversations by making sounds and dinghies.

To stimulate your child’s language, try to read to it regularly. Tell a story with a clear and articulate voice so that it can memorize it. Sooner or later, it will surprise you with its first words.

Weight and size

During the first half of the year, children grow very fast. But as they get older, their growth slows down a bit.

Normal weight for a 9 month old baby is about 9 kg while the normal length is about 72 cm.

Tooth cracking

We have already gone through this process and are aware of the changes in appearance that the arrival of baby teeth entails.

At this point, their upper front teeth and lower front teeth as well as other teeth gradually emerge. If you notice that there is a tooth cracking going on, you can relieve sore gums by offering cold fruits or vegetables.

What should children eat during this stage?

When a baby is nine months old, you can give it some fruits and vegetables like: tomatoes, seedless grapes, tangerines, melon, kiwi, pineapple etc.

You can also start experimenting with meats such as lamb, rabbit, chicken and veal.

Soups along with rice and vegetables are also a good idea during this stage.

You can cook many of the foods you have provided in the past, and just add a little more creativity to the presentation.

Even if you have already started offering your baby different fruits, do not forget to give natural fruit juices with. Children often love juices and they are also useful.

Recommendations for caring for a 9-month-old baby

As children grow, they need more physical exercise. This in turn means that the parents must be energetic and healthy.

It is also important for parents to learn to take a break and delegate tasks when required.

When children are in the ninth month, they can be left in another adult’s care for a short time so that you can rest.

Take a couple of hours for yourself, take a relaxing bath, meet your friends for coffee or you can go for a massage.

These are some activities that do not require too much time, but they are useful for you and your baby.

Things to keep in mind during the ninth month:

  • As children begin to recognize themselves as individuals, it is important to use it to reinforce their knowledge of themselves. Teach them the names of the different parts of the body. This can be done when we talk to them while bathing: “Let us wash our stomachs” and “Let us wash our faces” are some examples.
  • Have some practical toys for the bath time. This can make the experience fun for the child.
  • Sleep disorders are normal between the seventh and tenth month. They are sometimes caused by the so-called “separation phase.”
  • It’s time for them to learn to share and wait their turn. We often think that they are still too young to learn about values. But now it’s time to start. You will see amazing results in the future. Ask for some of their food or one of their toys and praise them for their kindness.
  • You will also notice that your baby will start responding to simple commands such as “come here”, “do not touch it” or “give mom a kiss”.
  • Go for walks together. Going to the park or even to a mall can be beneficial to their social development.

The ninth month of a child’s life is an experience we should benefit from. While it is true that all stages of childhood are beautiful and memorable, the first months of a child’s life are golden.

Try to take pictures to capture this stage. You will be grateful when you can relive these moments whenever you want in the future.
