How often should babies be bathed?

An infant’s skin is very sensitive and has not yet developed a strong enough barrier to retain moisture. Therefore, babies should not be bathed too often during the first few months. We share more information here.

When a newborn comes home for the first time, most parents worry about how often they should bathe their baby. The first thing to know is that,  unlike older children, babies do not need to be bathed every day.

On the contrary, the baby’s skin may react negatively, with rash and dryness as a result, if it is bathed every day. Just remember that the area around the diaper must always be kept clean.

Most specialists recommend that until the remains of the umbilical cord fall off, the child should be washed with a sponge or washcloth, rather than bathed in a bathtub. Once the navel has healed, the baby can be bathed once or twice a week.

When babies have learned to crawl, they get dirty more easily, and they can then get daily baths. Always try to use a moisturizing skin cream after bathing your baby so that the skin does not dry out.

It is important to  choose a good time to bathe your child. The best  would be when the baby is happy and satisfied. Also make sure the room is warm.

At the same time, it is important to make sure you have all the necessary equipment nearby: a tub of warm water, a towel, a cotton suit, a clean diaper and clean clothes.

When is the best time to bathe a baby?

Any time of the day may be the right time to bathe your child. The only thing to keep in mind is to avoid bathing the baby immediately after a meal. Doing so can make the child vomit up what it has just ingested.

It is also important to  set a specific time for the bath time. It helps you stay disorganized and calm. Never leave the child unattended when bathing.

Remember that it is important to be present and monitor the child at all times. If you must leave the bathroom, make sure you take the child with you to avoid accidents.
